Natural Fusarium Toxin Contamination of Wheat in Southern Part of Hungary

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fusarium head blight (FHB), primarily caused by a fungal plant pathogen graminearum, is devastating disease of wheat and other cereals. FHB reduces yield, but also the quality feeding value crop. The fungus produces mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) that poses significant threat to health domestic animals humans. In 2019 epidemic occurred not only southern eastern parts Hungary, affected area Central Europe. patterns varied tremendously, depending on geographic area, different resistance levels genotypes, weather soil conditions cropping factors. this survey 192 samples bread (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes from three geographically regions were tested for DON toxin contamination HPLC-MS method. Average 3.80 mg/kg; it times higher than European maximum limit unprocessed cereals intended human consumption. content range very wide (0.15 – 20.71 mg/kg), 76% exceeded EU risk threshold level.

Wheat kernel black point and fumonisin contamination by Fusarium proliferatum.

Fusarium proliferatum is a major cause of maize ear rot and fumonisin contamination and also can cause wheat kernel black point disease. The primary objective of this study was to determine whether nine F. proliferatum strains from wheat from Nepal can cause black point and fumonisin contamination in wheat kernels. For comparison, the study included three Fusarium strains from US maize. In test...

Metabolism of the Fusarium Mycotoxins T-2 Toxin and HT-2 Toxin in Wheat

To investigate the metabolic fate of HT-2 toxin (HT2) and T-2 toxin (T2) in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), an untargeted metabolomics study utilizing stable isotopic labeling and liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry was performed. In total, 11 HT2 and 12 T2 derived in planta biotransformation products were annotated putatively. In addition to previously reported mono- and digl...

Natural Contamination with Mycotoxins Produced by Fusarium graminearum and Fusarium poae in Malting Barley in Argentina

Two of the most common species of toxin-producing Fusarium contaminating small cereal grains are Fusarium graminearum and F. poae; with both elaborating diverse toxins, especially deoxynivalenol (DON) and nivalenol (NIV), respectively. The objective of our work during the 2012-2014 growing seasons was to screen crops for the most commonly isolated Fusarium species and to quantify DON and NIV to...

An Investigation on T-2 Toxin Contamination in Wheat Crops from 11 Cities, Iran

Objective: The major Fusarium toxins found in cereals and cereal-based products that can be harmful to both human and animal health are some trichothecenes, such as deoxynivalenol (DON). Methods: A recent SCOOP project, Since toxinogenic fungi are cosmopolitan, mycotoxins are environmental pollutants present in virtually all parts of the world and causing diseases (mycotoxicoses) . Thi...
